Cold Outside, Tropical Inside: A Winter Night Out in Columbus

By Huli Huli Downtown

Red-lit tiki interior at Huli Huli Downtown

From November through February, a Columbus evening out can involve a lot of coats, forecasts, and decisions about how long to stay outdoors. A tropical setting offers a change of mood without a flight south. Huli Huli Downtown brings tiki details, tropical drinks, and food into one indoor stop on Mound Street.

Choose a setting that feels different from the weather

The carved tiki details, bamboo, hanging decorations, and red-lit interior give you something other than gray skies to look at. The glowing tiki fireplace featured in the venue imagery is a distinctive visual detail; it is not a promise about room temperature or a working heat source.

For winter date ideas in Columbus, a memorable indoor setting can carry the evening. You do not have to fill the plan with several outdoor stops to make it feel special.

Find a tropical flavor—or a spiced direction

Blue Hawaii brings pineapple and lemon into a rum-and-gin cocktail, while Aloha Aina lists pineapple, lime, and taro/ube coconut cream. If aromatic spice suits your winter mood, Three Dots and a Dash includes allspice dram and falernum, and Pat’s Barrel lists Chinese five-spice syrup.

These are current menu selections, not a special winter menu. Check the Eat & Drink page for ingredients, nut notices, and prices. Non-alcoholic cocktails are also listed for an evening without spirits.

Make it an indoor dinner plan

A Hawaiian plate comes with rice and mac salad, with proteins including mochiko chicken, Huli chicken, fried tofu, and kalua pork. The broader food menu also includes starters, bao buns, and sandwiches. Pick what sounds good rather than treating drinks as the only reason to visit.

If you add a performance or another indoor downtown activity, confirm its schedule first. Leave enough time for your meal, and do not assume the kitchen serves until the venue’s closing time.

Plan for the Ohio part of the evening, too

Check the forecast, allow time for parking, and wear what you need for the trip between your ride and the entrance. A dedicated venue parking lot has not been confirmed. If weather affects travel or you are visiting near a holiday, call (614) 910-2225 before leaving.

Monday is closed. Sunday and Tuesday–Thursday are 11:30 AM–10 PM; Friday–Saturday are 11:30 AM–midnight. For indoor nightlife in Columbus with a tropical direction, keep the plan simple: get there safely, enjoy dinner and your company, and have a safe ride home.
